Some would call him the father of fashion. Others -mainly my husband- would call him an interesting Beethoven-Neo hybrid with his powder white hair and black Matrix attire. Either way, Karl Lagerfeld’s personal style and designs are both iconic. He’s the epitome of fabu. So naturally I and other devote fashion followers squealed in delight when Net-a-Porter launched KARL, the cult fashion icon’s covetable collection of downtown classics. Tré cool.

I drool. And so should you. There’s a tasty mix of fashionable goodies to suit your style needs. Sweatshirts and tees, leather sneakers and sandals, canvas and leather bags, sequin shorts and biker jackets – oh my! Dorthy, we’re definitely not in Kansas anymore. We’re in fashion heaven.

While there are some uber-fabu and pricier items, there’s also a lot of very affordable pieces which have you say “shut up” with glee. My personal faves include the (a) Jacinda Karl-print jersey T-shirt (b) Sequined poplin collar (c) Printed canvas shopper

It’s Friday the 13th. Muahahahaha . . . I look at Friday the 13th sort of as a mini Halloween of sorts. Any excuse for fun is fabu, no? Keeping that in mind, wouldn’t you just love to playfully cross the paths of your frenemies or those with friggatriskaidekaphobia wearing a chic black cat? Below are some of my feline faves.

(b) Zoe Karssen I Love Cats Sweater

Marc by Marc Jacobs Patent Mouse‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, except these totally cute Marc by Marc Jacobs Patent Mouse Flats.

Friends, aren’t these just the cutest? I’ve been quite smitten with the Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats for some time now, but I really in love the patent ones. How could I not? They feature an adorable mouse face at the toe – with tiny eyes and ears, a sweet pink nose, and playful little whiskers – and an adorable stitch tail at the heel. The patent flats are available in black and camel, but the mouse flats also come in a variety of other looks, including glitter, velvet and stylish studs. Ashlee Simpson has also been spotted wearing the adorable flats.

(available at Shopbop, Net-a-Porter, Jildor, Revolve Clothing, Zappos, Endless)

This week marked the return of my beloved fashion friend Rachel Zoe with The Rachel Zoe Project, and I couldn’t have been happier. I was seriously going ba-na-nas waiting for the show to return. In fact, I was going more like co-co-nuts. The theme song ‘Odyle‘ by Heloise & the Savoir Faire played nonstop in my head and I happily sang her name around the house in the days leading up to the show’s premiere, much to the chagrin of Mr., who probably knows more about fashion than most straight guys due to my incessant fashion blog chatter.

I dare say I missed my weekly dose of Zoe-isms and of course her insane love for all things fashionable. Her enthusiasm puts the fun in fashion for me, and I often wish she were my fashion fairy godmother – every girl needs one and she would be maj. I want to play dress-up in her closet the way you do in your mom’s closet when you’re little.

The show is always entertaining. Last season had me wishing for a slumber party with Rachel and Kate Hudson in Paris (Kate made a little cameo and I hope she makes another appearance). This season has Rachel giving birth to both her own fashion line and little Skyler, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Since this new season will focus a bit on Rachel’s new collection, I thought I would share with you some of the pieces I’m both wishing for and drooling over:

This Friday’s post is dedicated to the most wonderful time of the year (minus a few other noteworthy days like my birthday and Christmas). Seriously though, we’re talking  Fashion’s Night Out. That wonderful fashion holiday given to us by the queen of fashion and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. It’s probably the nicest thing she’s ever done. While it started as a way to support fashion and designers during a economic slump, it’s now turned into a Christmas-meets trick-or-treating-meets Mardi Gras shopping extravaganza. And I for one get giddy just thinking about it. For the third year in a row, designers and celebrities alike will mingle with us mere mortals shoppers at exclusive FNO-events on September 8th. I totally envy New Yorkers, who happen to be at the epicenter of the night’s festivities. You can get the scoop on what’s going on in a city near you at FNO’s official website. However, if you’re in a less desirable location, fear not, you can still participate from the comfort of your home. They’ll be a lot of festivities for online shoppers to enjoy too.  To get into the spirit of things, here are some of my fave FNO goodies (think of them as your Christmas pajamas). Remember, like the holidays, it’s nice to be generous. FNO will donate 40% of the proceeds from the tees and tote to the New York City AIDS fund. Tis the season, friends.
